Meet the man behind the wheel and reel, Captain Mike Little.

Hailing from Jacksonville Beach with first memories of holding a cane pole while fishing for bluegill with his grandpa, Mike spent his early days casting lines from the intracoastal waterway on up to creeks in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.

Called to serve, the US Navy took Mike across the Pacific before bringing him back to the East Coast where he continued his service career with the Defense Department. Soon the tides took him to Charleston where he began a several-year tenure with SPAWAR training the US Navy, US Coast Guard, British Royal Navy, and Royal New Zealand Navy sailors.

Committed to being the good he wanted to see, Mike started a fishing charter offering free trips for veterans, first responders, law enforcement, teachers, doctors and their families. This ripple would become the wave behind Good People Fishing, which he and his wife Margaret founded in 2017.

A full-time captain, Mike’s love affair with the water has taken him well beyond the reef to Hawaii, the Netherlands, French Polynesia, the Virgin Islands, Australia and more. Backed by a 25-ton master captain's license, he's dedicated thousands of hours on the water in pursuit of tales and tails.

Calling the doubters and the hesitant, this is your boat. Mike truly loves fishing and, trust and believe, you’ll catch that love right along with the fish.

But it's not just about the catch. Whether you're a seasoned angler or have yet to cast a line, he's here to educate you and celebrate you. Whether you’re fishing for a meal or memories, he’ll teach you all the tricks, share the Lowcountry’s natural wonder and make sure your day on the water one for the books.

Mike can catch the fish - he’ll show that you can too and will enjoy every minute along the way.

Captain Mike Little - In The Boat

As a mother of two teenagers, I reached out to Good People to learn how to safely and confidently drive our boat by myself and with friends. I have been working with Captain Mike and he has been great! Very patient, knowledgeable, and a great instructor! I would recommend his team to anyone waiting to strengthen their knowledge of boating in the Lowcountry!
